"Modern Family", tells the story of Manni and Renate, a middle aged german couple, living in the Hessian countryside. Their life ist turned upside down, when a family of refugees from Syria is moving in with them. While Renate is really excited about having someone to take care of, her husband Manni has a hard time adjusting to the new situation. He is sceptical at first. But the more he is getting to know his new housemates, the more he befriends and understands them. Renate on the other hand keeps on treating the Kahlil family like beloved kids. Even though she really wants to help, she’s repeatedly invading the privacy of her guests by showing up in their rooms unannounced, bringing presents or cake. She means well, but unintentionally she makes the Kahlils feel uncomfortable.
