When financial difficulties jeopardize her livelihood, painter Lipa Kehlani has to sell one of her works and follows the invitation of the mysterious collector Dr. Elfriede Borsch. But the sales talk in the residence of the old, terminally ill woman proceeds slowly. The collector’s penetrating inquiries into her person and her creative process deeply offend Lipa’s understanding of art. Eventually, the collector forces Lipa into a bizarre experiment as a condition for the purchase. Lipa has no idea that there is a secret behind the collector's interest, which suddenly gives her life a new meaning.
